15 Years of Meaningful Contributions
In 2011, Ingvar Kamprad initiated work with the vision of contributing to a better everyday life for the many people. This year, the foundation celebrates 15 years of important investments in research, education, and social projects.
The founder’s entrepreneurial spirit and drive have shaped a foundation that supports the development of knowledge characterized by curiosity, experimentation, determination, and a commitment to creating change together.
Collaboration between different actors is actively encouraged to create positive synergies, and the work continues with a clear purpose: to contribute, step by step, to a better everyday life for the many people.

Most things still remain to be done. A glorious future!

For the Benefit of the Many People
The foundation was established in 2011 by Ingvar Kamprad and his family. Its capital consists of initial donations from Ingvar Kamprad, Inter IKEA Group, and Ikano. In 2018, additional capital was added through inheritance and Ingvar Kamprad’s will, with the purpose of supporting the development of business activities in northern Sweden through research and education.
Each year, the foundation allocates approximately SEK 250 million to research, education, and social projects that promote entrepreneurship, the environment, competence development, health, and social well-being. The foundation’s assets currently amount to SEK 8 billion (market value as of December 31, 2025). Since its inception, the foundation has distributed more than SEK 2.3 billion to its purposes.
The foundation supports Swedish research that promotes a better environment, entrepreneurship for a living countryside, and improved quality of life for the elderly. The aim is to fund research of high scientific quality while ensuring that results reach the many people.
The Board of Directors holds the ultimate responsibility for the foundation’s management, including awarding grants. A Scientific Council made up of external scientific experts supports the board's decisions. The council ensures that the research funded is of high scientific quality and meets the foundation’s assessment criteria.
The foundation also supports social initiatives aimed at improving quality of life for elderly in the three Småland counties of Jönköping, Kalmar, and Kronoberg.
